The Donation Dance is sometimes also called The Dollar Dance. If you did not have a receiving line, this is a nice way to thank your guests for coming personally. The Dance starts with The Bride & Groom out on the Dance floor separately. I announce the forming of two lines. One for the Bride, and one for the Groom. The Best Man, and Maid/Matron of Honor stand where the lines begin holding a bag for money, and sometimes holding a tray of shots. The guests are invited up to dance with either the Bride or Groom, or both while putting a donation into the bag. Shots, if available, are optional and I tell your guests this as well. Your guests have the opportunity to dance with you for a few moments, and sometimes this helps in making sure you get to thank everyone for attending your special day. The music for this dance is slow love ballads unless otherwise advised by the Bride & Groom.
