Recently there have been some new types of dances that have come out, The Married Couples Dance is one of these. In this dance, I ask ALL the married couples at your reception to come out on the dance floor for a dance together. Obviously this pulls a great many of your guests out to dance. I then start to play a slow song chosen by the Bride & Groom. I start to announce that all couples married less than a year to be seated. I then proceed to make my way through the years 1-3 years, 4-5, 6-9, 10-15, 16-24, 25, 26-30, 31-39, and work my way up in years until we have the married couple that have been married the longest alone dancing on the floor. We then have a large round of applause for them, and sometimes the Bride & Groom supply a small gift for them like a bottle of wine.
Other times the Bride & Groom have this dance instead of the Garter & Bouquet Tossing.
Just to let you know I'm just giving you as many options as possible, this does not have to be in your line-up, but I'm just suggesting some different ideas to help you in your wedding reception planning.
Below are a list of appropriate songs for this kind of dance.
1. Through the Years-Kenny Rogers
2. For My Wedding Day-Don Henley
3. You're the Insiration-Chicago
4. Can You Feel The Love Tonight-Elton John
5. True Companion-Marc Cohen
6. I Wanna Love You Forever-Jessica Simpson
7. When I Said I Do-Clint & Lisa Hartman Black
